I find feedforward is easier to accept when compared to feedback. Feedforward presents one with the chance to improve or enhance ideas prior to submission for others to review. Feedforward provides more of a collaborative feel, in my opinion, opposed to feedback. While feedback is also beneficial, the reality is feedback is often given after a grade is assigned. Of course, you can learn from feedback and utilize comments moving forward, but an opportunity to improve an assigned grade for an assignment based on feedback is often not presented as an option. However, as a move towards a growth mindset I have to consciously remind myself that although it may be difficult to accept, failure or imperfection is a part of growing and does not mean one is not capable of something. The power and importance of “yet” is important when receiving feedback and feedforward. “Yet” represents that one is working towards achieving a desired goal (Dweck, 2014). As part of my innovation plan, I will incorporate ongoing weekly activities to support feedforward. Through reviewing artifacts, documents, and developed resources prior to finalization group members will have the opportunity to share items with peers to garner feedforward to enhance work products.
